Growth Points Guide
Growth Points or 'GP' are accumulated over time as you draw and write about your avian characters.
Each piece of art and literature that features your avian will earn them a specific number of GP that will build towards their next stage of growth. The more you use your avian, the more GP they will earn, and thus the more they will grow! Growing your avian unlocks new perks and opens up more activities; like breeding. So... how do you earn GP? |
___
Events
Ancient Wings hosts semi-regular contests and events that players can enter and earn all kinds of goodies- including GP!
Events typically require a bit more effort than prompts or general activity, but yield the highest amount of GP you can earn for your avian. As a note; artwork and literature can only be counted for event GP if the avian was entered into the event. Any additional avians; or those who weren't entering the event may only be counted for general GP. GP Earned: 10 GP per event entry.

Prompts
When there are no events going on, you may opt to complete prompts to earn GP!
There are always several prompts to choose from; including seasonal prompts with specific themes which are rotated out every couple of months, and regular prompts; which are the basic / static prompts you can complete at any time. These are fun, repeatable activities you may do as many times as you like with your avians to earn a good amount of GP. Do note that prompts may only include one to two avians; and will only count for those that are featured in the prompt with the correct requirements. GP Earned: 8 GP per prompt.

General Activity
Finally, you can earn GP for your avian just by drawing or writing about them without entering events or completing prompts!
This method of earning GP offers a slower paced but more casual ARPG experience; and while the yield is not as high as the other two methods, it is the easiest way to grow your avians with little requirements to be met. With that being said; there are still some requirements for general art and literature that we will go over here: For Artwork: At least the entirety of the head should be visible to be counted as a headshot. For half bodies to count; the entire upper body from the waist up must be visible, and for a full body piece to count; the majority of the head, body, tail, and limbs must be visible. Flat colors, at mimimum, are required for drawn GP. These should reflect the colors and/or markings on your avian's import in a way that is obvious; we should be able to see that the art is depicting your avian. Colored sketches or painted pieces are fine, but should be clean and colored neatly. Your artwork should not lack in detail or quality compared to the rest of your work. We do not judge by skill level; only the effort we see being put into the art you're doing. Some stylized artwork may be okay; but pieces that are intentionally drawn to be 'easy', or are purposefully made tiny/hidden to scrape by the requirements will not count for GP. Small pixels (under 150x150) will not count for GP. Recolored or 'on-base' artwork will not count for GP. For Literature: All stories must be written in story-format (no RPs) an in English. If you need to use an online translator, this is fine; just make sure it's going to be readable! Stories should clearly describe the individual being featured, the setting they are in, and what they are doing. Large amounts of copy/pasted text or out of place filler text is not acceptable for stories; and will not count towards your word count/for GP. For general literature, a minimum of 500 words is required per story; anything below this count will not earn you any GP. GP Earned: 2 GP for Headshots, 3 GP for Half Bodies, and 5 GP for Full Bodies / Literature

Growth Stages
In total, there are five stages of growth your avian will go through- from the time they hatch, to the point where they reach their full adulthood!
Certain activities and events may require your avian to be at a particular stage of growth in order for them to participate; so gaining GP and growing your avian is essential to the game! The stages and GP requirements are as follows: Hatchling: 0GP
Your avian has just hatched from the egg! Fledgeling: 15 GP - Unlocks Prompts Though they are still young, your avian is beginning to take their first, tentative steps into the new world. Adolescent: 30 GP - Unlocks Events As your avian begins to mature, they start developing their personality... and attitude! Young Adult: 50 GP - Unlocks Breeding Your avian is nearing adulthood, and many new things are happening around them. Mature Adult: 100 GP - Unlocks Unlimited Breeding Slots Surviving and thriving for this long took some real effort; your avian is now fully grown! Upon getting their avian to the Mature Adult growth stage, the player will be awarded one item of their choosing from the following: 1 Egg Pass, 1 Breeding Pass, 1 Starter Slot, or 1 Random Roll Ticket.

Tracking GP
In order to keep track of your avian's GP and update their growth stage later on you will need to make a GP Tracker for each of your avian characters.
Trackers may be made anywhere where text, links, and images can be seen by mods; so places like deviantART, Toyhouse, and Google Docs work fine for this. You may format your tracker however you like; but your avian's import, their total GP, and all images/literature being counted for GP must be visible on the tracker itself. It's important that game mods can access your trackers, and easily see/read what you have on it. Be sure to distinguish what art and literature is from events, prompts, and general activity so mods have an easier time tallying your GP! If you don't want to format your own tracker, you may use the example tracker here; just copy/paste the information on this sheet and replace things with your own avian and you're good to go! |
